Free Online Tarot Reading

Take a quiet moment, then draw.

  • Free
  • No sign-in
  • Every draw can be verified

Check a receipt

Draw one card, three cards or a yes / no answer from a full 78-card deck. No sign-in needed. Every draw comes with a receipt that lets anyone recompute the card order.

Learn about the spreads

A tarot deck has 78 cards: 22 Major Arcana cards that mark larger life themes, and 56 Minor Arcana cards in four suits (Wands, Cups, Swords and Pentacles) that speak to everyday action, feeling, thought and circumstance. A spread gives each card a position, so the cards look at one question from more than one angle.

What each spread is for

One card
One card, one focus. Good for a quick check-in or an everyday question. Read it as a theme to notice, not as a verdict.
Past · Present · Future
Past, present and future. The first card is the background that still shapes things, the second is what is active now, and the third is where the current pattern tends to lead if nothing changes. It is a direction, not a fixed fate.
Yes / No
One card read through a fixed yes / no table of our own, so the answer does not depend on how the question is worded. It gives a lean (yes, no or unsure), not a probability or a guarantee.
Situation · Action · Outcome
Situation, action and outcome: where you stand, one step that is within your control, and where that step may lead. Useful when you want a next step rather than a mood.
Two paths
Two options, one card for each path, plus a reminder that applies to both. It does not choose for you; it shows how each option may feel and what stays the same either way.
Relationship
Your side, the other side as you see it, and the dynamic between you. The middle card describes your view of the other person, not what they really think.

Common questions

Is it free, and do I need to sign in?
It is free and needs no sign-in. The question you type stays on your device; it is not sent to our server and plays no part in the draw.
What do reversed cards mean?
Reversals are optional and off by default. When they are on, a reversed card is read as the same theme turned inward, blocked or overdone. It is not bad luck.
Can tarot predict the future?
No. Use it as a structured prompt for reflection. For health, legal, money or safety matters, please talk to a qualified person.

How this tarot draw works

Pick a spread that fits the shape of your question, draw from a full 78-card deck, and keep a receipt that lets anyone recompute the same cards. The steps below follow that order, so a reading starts from what the cards can and cannot support.

In short

  • Choose the spread first: one card for a single focus, three cards for a sequence or a comparison, yes / no only for a question that really has two answers.
  • Every draw comes from a seeded shuffle of all 78 cards, and the receipt in the link lets anyone recompute the same cards.
  • A card is read through three things together: its position, the card itself and its direction.
  • A receipt proves which cards came up. It does not prove what they mean for your life.

Choose the spread by the shape of your question

A spread is a small set of positions. The same card says something different in a position called Past than in one called Outcome, so choosing the spread is already part of the reading. Start from what you want to know, then pick the layout that fits it.

Six spreads compared by number of cards and the kind of question each one suits.

If the hard part is wording the question itself, the guide to asking tarot questions goes through it, and a single card as a daily practice shows the smallest spread in use.

From shuffle to receipt: how a draw is fixed

The deck is shuffled with an unbiased seeded shuffle (Fisher–Yates, with rejection sampling so no ordering is favoured by the method). The seed combines the engine version, the spread, a random value from our server and a value from your own device. Your question plays no part in the seed. In this version the server also sees both values, so a receipt shows that a draw can be recomputed, not that the server could not have chosen it.

One draw in four steps: a seed made from a server value and a device value, an unbiased shuffle of all 78 cards, the cards and directions fixed, and a receipt anyone can recompute.

After the draw the cards are fixed. A new draw gives a different set, so treat the first valid draw as the one you read; why repeating the same question blurs a reading explains the reasoning, and shuffling, cutting and drawing records covers how people keep track of it.

A receipt shows which cards came up, in which positions and facing which way, and that they follow from the receipt by the stated method. It leaves open what the cards mean for you, what will happen next and whether another draw would agree.

Paste a receipt on the verification page and the same shuffle is recomputed from scratch. Anyone can check that the cards match the receipt. The meaning still comes from reading each card against its position and your question, which is the next section.

The receipt does not carry your question or any account detail, so sharing the link shares the cards and nothing else.

Read each card in three moves

  1. 1

    Position

Say what the position asks before looking at the card. Past asks what shaped things; Outcome asks where the current direction tends to lead.

  2. 2

    Card

Describe what the picture shows before deciding what it means: who is there, what they hold, where they face.

  3. 3

    Direction

An upright card shows its theme directly. With reversals on, a reversed card shows the same theme turned inward, blocked or overdone.

Write one sentence per card

A usable reading ends in a sentence that names the position, the card and one thing you can check in your own life. If a sentence cannot be checked, it is mood rather than reading.

Reading cards in relation shows how neighbouring cards change each other, and upright and reversed compares the common ways of reading reversals. Symbols versus facts helps you keep what the picture shows apart from what you conclude.

What tarot cannot do

A prompt for reflection, not a forecast

Tarot organises a question you already have. It cannot tell you what another person thinks, confirm a diagnosis, or replace legal, money or safety advice. For those, talk to a qualified person.

The card meanings here follow the traditional Rider–Waite–Smith imagery as described in Waite's own 1911 text, then rewritten in plain language. Where a yes / no answer is given it comes from a fixed table that is BaZiFlow's own convention, not a traditional rule, so it does not change with how the question is worded. For the deck itself, what tarot is and how the Major and Minor Arcana divide is the place to start.
