Ox–Tiger Compatibility: Control Is Not Clash

Are Ox and Tiger a Clash (六冲) pair? Not in the branch table used on this page. Ox's Chou branch has Earth as its primary element; Tiger's Yin branch has Wood. Wood controls Earth, but elemental control is not another name for a branch clash. The overall, love, friendship, and work scores are all 65. This pair receives no Six Harmony (六合), Three Harmony (三合), Punishment (相刑), or Harm (六害) label either. Understanding that classification explains more than inventing a contest between two supposedly stubborn personalities. This article follows the calculation, then examines what changing the male–female direction does—and does not—change.

Neighbors in the sequence are neither opposites nor automatic allies

Chou and Yin sit next to each other in the earthly-branch sequence. Clash (六冲) names specified pairs; it cannot be inferred from an impression that both people have strong personalities. Ox's clash partner is Goat, and Tiger's is Monkey. The Six Harmony (六合) partners are different again: Rat for Ox, Pig for Tiger. Being neighbors in an ordered list says nothing about emotional proximity and does not establish that two people will agree.

Three Harmony (三合) depends on membership of a particular group, not on whether both animals have acquired flattering descriptions such as hardworking or brave. Ox belongs to the Snake–Rooster–Ox Metal group, Tiger to the Tiger–Horse–Dog Fire group. They do not form a half-combination (半合) within one group. Each can participate in Punishment (相刑) relationships with other branches, but that does not create one between these two. Every label has to be checked against the current pair, rather than borrowed from either sign's wider list of connections.

What was actually deducted to reach 65?

The page starts with a baseline of 70. No named relationship applies to Ox–Tiger, so that component adds or subtracts nothing. The Wood–Earth control relationship contributes a deduction of 5, leaving 65. There is no separate adjustment for love, friendship, or work, so those scores remain equal. This is a reproducible classification value, not satisfaction measured among Ox–Tiger couples or a school-style judgment that their relationship barely passes.

The mechanism also explains why another pair may receive the same number. Different branches and elements can feed into an equal adjustment; even when both involve control, the elements and direction need not match. The number compresses information. It cannot then be expanded into invented temperament, life events, or a forecast. In particular, being the controlled element does not make the Ox less capable, and occupying the controlling side does not qualify the Tiger to lead.

Ox man × Tiger woman: no basis for declaring a dominant wife

Describing a Tiger woman as naturally overpowering her partner turns a technical relationship into a gender judgment. Here we know only that her sign corresponds to Yin Wood and his to Chou Earth. We do not know their Day Masters, occupations, incomes, or decision-making habits. Wood controlling Earth tells us neither who holds more influence at home nor whether the man experiences any harm.

A full BaZi comparison would preserve each person's Four Pillars and pillar positions, then examine genuine cross-chart interactions. Her Year Branch cannot simply become his spouse star, nor can his Year Branch be renamed the spouse palace. Ox man–Tiger woman and Ox woman–Tiger man couples can certainly have different lived experiences, but those differences require actual information. Swapping gender labels is not evidence for writing a second set of personality claims.

Separate the known zodiac facts from the unanswered relationship question

Chou, Yin, and their primary-element interaction are known within this comparison. Whether these people want to be together, how they handle disagreement, and whether their life goals can coexist remain unanswered. The first set of data does not automatically supply the second. A happy Ox–Tiger couple need not search for a hidden problem to justify 65; a couple with a concrete difficulty need not rename every issue as Wood controlling Earth.

The same boundary applies to friendship and work. A zodiac table contains no professional skills, history of honoring commitments, or evidence of trust between friends. It cannot appoint one person to create opportunities and the other to execute them. If the question concerns starting a collaboration, actual responsibilities and abilities must enter the conversation. Preserving that distinction allows the traditional classification to be understood without making one element relationship carry conclusions it never supplied.

Ox woman × Tiger man: an arrow is not authority

With an Ox woman and Tiger man, Yin Wood still controls Chou Earth; exchanging the genders does not change the score. 'He should manage her' is not a valid division of duties derived from that fact, and 'she must give way' has no support here. Keep track of which branch belongs to whom, but do not read a directional arrow as an organizational hierarchy.

If both people's birth details are available, their Day Branches, Day Stems, and other pillars may contain connections this page does not display—or they may not. Calculation has to precede interpretation. It would be equally unjustified to promise that the remaining pillars necessarily neutralize the control relationship. The precise conclusion here concerns Wood and Earth at the birth-year level, not a completed judgment of two full charts.

Frequently asked questions

Do Ox and Tiger form a Harm relationship?

Not in this table. Ox's Harm (六害) partner is Horse, and Tiger's is Snake. Chou and Yin do not themselves form that pair.

Does Wood controlling Earth show who harms whose health?

No. This element classification supplies no health information about either person. The direction of control is not evidence of disease or injury.

Does the Tiger partner have to be older for control to apply?

No. The primary elements determine the direction, not seniority. The two signs do not establish the actual age difference either.

Does having no harmony label mean they should not marry?

No. An absent harmony bonus does not establish an absence of attraction or shared goals in real life. A marriage verdict exceeds the information supplied by two zodiac signs.
