One element, separate combination groups

Shen belongs to the Shen–Zi–Chen (申子辰) Water Three Harmony (三合) group; You belongs to the Si–You–Chou (巳酉丑) Metal group. These groups share no members. A branch's main element and the element of a particular combination describe different things: Shen does not enter the Si–You–Chou group merely because its main element is Metal, nor does its Water-group membership turn its main element into Water.

Both branches being Metal does not establish a Generating (相生) relationship between them. The element comparison is same-element; the branch comparison finds no special pair relation. Keep those findings separate. Being adjacent in the branch sequence also does not establish a further complete combination between two people.

A hypothetical disagreement about “enough evidence”

Suppose two people are choosing a service together. One brings trial records; the other asks for written commitments and the conditions under which they apply. Both may care about reliability, but the materials answer different questions. The trial shows what happened on one occasion; the commitment specifies what is promised under stated conditions.

Put the sample beside the acceptance conditions

If that disagreement occurs in an actual project, record observed sample performance separately from conditions every delivery must meet. A sample arriving on time establishes that one delivery. If the project needs repeated timely deliveries, dates, quantities and exception handling still need agreement. One satisfactory experience cannot stand in for the entire commitment.

What evidence can establish, and what a person must say

In a close relationship, keeping an appointment supports the claim that this appointment was kept. It cannot answer whether the other person wants a lasting commitment. Ask each person to express that intention; several positive experiences or a shared element do not establish consent.
