Wealth in Your BaZi Chart: Wealth Luck by Year

Curious what your chart looks like when it comes to money? This page first lists what the chart shows about wealth: where the Wealth stars sit, how strong the Day Master is, which structure markers appear (such as output producing Wealth, or Companions competing for it) and which Luck Pillars carry Wealth. It then lays that onto a wealth luck line that runs out to the final Luck Pillar of your chart. Years up to and including this one open straight away, signing in adds next year, and the rest unlocks. Each item says how it is derived and what it cannot show. It does not forecast income or name a rich year; for a closer year-by-year view, use the Luck Pillar calculator and the annual forecast.

How to read the wealth line

The line gives every year a wealth index from 0 to 100. It starts from whether the current Luck Pillar runs with or against your favorable elements, layers on the stem and branch of the year, and then nudges the result up or down according to the Ten God themes of that year that bear on money, such as Wealth stars, output producing Wealth or Companions competing for it.

Look at the shape first: which years rise, which ease, which stretch is flat. Higher than your own other years means things run relatively smoother; lower means relatively harder and slower, not that you will lose money. Comparing it with someone else's income tells you nothing, it is not an income forecast, and it is not financial advice.

Every year you can tap is on the solid part: past years and this year are free, which lets you check the line against what already happened, next year joins once you sign in, and later years open after an unlock. Tapping a year shows its stem, branch and score, from the same data as the Luck Pillar calculator.

How BaZi reads the structure of wealth

In BaZi, Wealth is the element that the Day Master controls, and it comes in two kinds: Direct Wealth has the opposite polarity to the Day Master, Indirect Wealth the same polarity. Whether a Wealth star shows up among the stems or hidden stems, and how many times, is the starting point for looking at where money comes from. A chart with no Wealth star is not a chart with no wealth, because the Luck Pillars and annual pillars bring new Ten Gods.

Traditionally wealth is not judged by the count of Wealth stars alone; the Day Master has to be able to carry it. A strong Day Master is considered better able to bear Wealth, and a weak Day Master facing many Wealth stars is traditionally said to need support. This page quotes the engine verdict on Day Master strength and favorable elements rather than running a second calculation. Strong and weak describe the balance of forces in the chart, not ability or physical health.

The Ten Gods around the Wealth star shape its form. Eating God or Hurting Officer together with Wealth is the output-produces-Wealth pattern, a structure in which talent or expression turns into income. When a Wealth star is present and Companion and Rob Wealth stars together number at least as many as the Wealth stars, the chart is marked Companions competing for Wealth, a structure in which resources are shared out. Indirect Resource with Eating God is the Resource-over-Eating-God structure, in which output is held back. This page detects these markers by counting and does not use them to rate income.

Finally, the Luck Pillars. Each runs ten years. A pillar whose stem is a Wealth star is where Wealth is revealed; a stem of Companion or Rob Wealth is where the Companion and Rob Wealth stars are revealed. This page lists those pillars with their age ranges, and marks the one you are in now when the birth time is known, to show how the structure of wealth is spread across the stages of a life. It gives no specific years and predicts no amounts.

How each result is derived

Wealth Stars

Which pillars hold Direct Wealth or Indirect Wealth, and whether each one is revealed as a stem or tucked away as a hidden stem.

Same for every chart: it looks for Direct Wealth and Indirect Wealth in the stems of the Year, Month and Hour Pillars and in the hidden stems of all four pillars, skipping the Day Master. The Ten Gods are the values already computed on the chart.

When birth time is unknown, a Wealth star on the Hour Pillar cannot be seen, so "no Wealth star" may only mean one pillar was not examined.

Day Master strength and favorable elements

The Day Master, its element, the engine verdict on whether it is strong or weak, and the favorable and unfavorable elements.

Quoted directly from the engine. The page does not run its own strength calculation.

Strength and favorable elements vary a little by school and by algorithm, and an unknown birth time affects the engine verdict too.

Wealth structure markers

Four structure markers (no Wealth star, output produces Wealth, Companions competing for Wealth, Resource over Eating God) and the Ten God counts used to detect them.

Ten Gods are counted from the stems of the Year, Month and Hour Pillars and the hidden stems of all four pillars, then fixed rules raise the markers. The markers are counts, not verdicts.

It does not judge whether Ten Gods are combined away or broken by clashes. The Hour Pillar is left out when birth time is unknown.

Wealth, Companion and Rob Wealth stems in the Luck Pillars

Which Luck Pillars have a stem of Direct Wealth, Indirect Wealth, Companion or Rob Wealth, with their age ranges.

Judged by the Ten God relation between the Day Master and the stem of each pillar. The current pillar is checked against today's date.

Only the stem is considered, not the branch. No specific years and no amounts are given.

Three sample charts, looking at Wealth stars and Luck Pillars

In the three fictional charts below, the Wealth stars, the Day Master strength and the Wealth, Companion or Rob Wealth stems of the Luck Pillars all differ, and one chart has no birth time. They are not real users either: the same rules give different structures because the birth data differ.

Sample chart 1

Wealth Stars

  • Wealth stars (Direct Wealth, Indirect Wealth) appear in: Day Pillar hidden stem: Yin Metal (Indirect Wealth).

Sample chart 3

Fictional example: Male, 1995-10-05, birth time unknown

Wealth Stars

  • Wealth stars (Direct Wealth, Indirect Wealth) appear in: Year Pillar hidden stem: Yang Water (Direct Wealth).

Birth time is unknown, so the Hour Pillar is not counted here.

Day Master strength and favorable elements

  • Day Master Yin Earth (Earth); the engine rates it Very weak.
  • Favorable elements: Fire, Earth. Unfavorable: Wood, Metal.

Birth time is unknown: the engine used a noon placeholder Hour Pillar when rating strength and favorable elements, so this item is approximate.

Wealth structure markers

  • Eating God or Hurting Officer appears together with a Wealth star (output producing Wealth)
  • Companion and Rob Wealth together number at least as many as the Wealth stars (Companions competing for Wealth)
  • Counts: Wealth 1, Output (Eating God and Hurting Officer) 2, Companion and Rob Wealth 1, Eating God 1, Indirect Resource 0.

Birth time is unknown, so the Hour Pillar is not counted here.

Wealth, Companion and Rob Wealth stems in the Luck Pillars

  • Pillar 2, ages 20–29, Yin Water Goat: stem is Indirect Wealth (Wealth star revealed)
  • Pillar 3, ages 30–39, Yang Water Horse: stem is Direct Wealth (Wealth star revealed)
  • Pillar 6, ages 60–69, Yin Earth Rabbit: stem is Companion (Companion or Rob Wealth revealed)
  • Pillar 7, ages 70–79, Yang Earth Tiger: stem is Rob Wealth (Companion or Rob Wealth revealed)

Only pillars whose stem is a Wealth star, a Companion or a Rob Wealth are listed. This marks structure, not specific years or outcomes. Birth time is unknown, so the start of the Luck Pillars is only approximate and the current pillar is not marked.

Common questions about the structure of wealth

What does a weak Day Master with abundant Wealth mean?+

It describes a chart where the Day Master is rated weak while Wealth stars are plentiful. Traditionally that combination is said to make carrying Wealth harder and to call for support from Resource, Companion or Rob Wealth stars. It is a structural description, not a statement that you cannot earn, and not a prophecy.

My chart has no Wealth star. Does that mean no financial luck?+

No. A chart without Direct or Indirect Wealth only lacks that kind of Ten God for now. Income also depends on profession, industry and circumstances, and Luck Pillars and annual pillars bring new Ten Gods. "No Wealth star" in the result is just a count.

What is the difference between Direct Wealth and Indirect Wealth?+

Both are the element the Day Master controls; they differ in polarity. Opposite polarity to the Day Master is Direct Wealth and the same polarity is Indirect Wealth. Traditionally Direct Wealth stands for steady, regular income and Indirect Wealth for opportunistic, more fluid income. It is a symbol, not a judgement about any career.

Can this page tell me which year is good for money?+

No. The year-by-year line only shows how each year compares with your own other years; it does not say which year will be a rich one. The structure items list where Wealth, Companion and Rob Wealth stems fall among the Luck Pillars, without naming specific years. For a view over time use the Luck Pillar calculator and the annual forecast.
