Free BaZi Love Reading: Love Luck Year by Year

This page draws your love luck as a line from birth to your last Luck Pillar. Everything up to this year is free, next year asks you to sign in, and years further out unlock. Beside the line it lists the structural facts the chart actually shows (the Spouse Palace, the Spouse Star, Peach Blossom, and the clashes and combinations on the Day Branch) and says how each is derived and where it falls short. It shows the overall shape, not "when will I meet someone": for the timing of relationship signals use the Marriage Timing tool, and to compare two people use Compatibility and Synastry.

How to read the love line

Each point on the line is the love index for one year, from 0 to 100. It combines your chart's favorable and unfavorable elements, the Luck Pillar that year falls in, and the stem and branch of the year itself. It looks at how the Ten God themes of that year touch relationships, and at whether the year combines with, clashes with, punishes or harms the Spouse Palace (the Day Branch).

Read the ups and downs rather than any single number. A year higher than your own other years is relatively smoother; a lower one is relatively harder and worth pacing, and it does not mean something will go wrong. The index only compares your years with each other. It cannot be compared with another person's chart and it is not the probability of a relationship or marriage.

The solid line is what you can open now: no sign-in is needed through this year, signing in adds next year, and anything later needs an unlock. Tap a year to see its stem, branch and score; the data is shared with the Luck Pillar calculator.

How BaZi reads the structure of love

BaZi calls the branch of the Day Pillar the Spouse Palace, the seat that traditionally stands for where you sit in a close relationship. A branch holds one to three hidden stems, and each hidden stem has a Ten God role relative to the Day Master. Two charts can both have a Spouse Palace and still differ: one may hold Wealth, another Officer, Resource, Eating God or Companion energy, and each describes a different relational role.

The Spouse Star is a second clue. The traditional convention reads Wealth stars (Direct Wealth, Indirect Wealth) for a male chart and Officer stars (Direct Officer, Seven Killings) for a female chart. It is a symbolic convention for watching whether relationship energy is revealed in the four pillars and on which pillar. It does not tell you the gender of a partner and it does not mean love will or will not happen. This page applies the convention by the gender recorded for the chart.

Peach Blossom is the third clue, derived from the Three Harmony group of the Day Branch: Monkey, Rat and Dragon point to Rooster; Tiger, Horse and Dog to Rabbit; Pig, Rabbit and Goat to Rat; Snake, Rooster and Ox to Horse. Finding it in a chart only means that branch appears on the Year, Month or Hour Pillar. Modern readers tie it to being noticed and drawn to others, which cannot be turned into a count of relationships.

Finally, look at how the Day Branch relates to the other branches. A combination is traditionally read as attachment and joining; a clash, punishment or harm as movement and friction. These are signals of interaction, not verdicts, and they only gain a time dimension once you look at the Luck Pillars and annual pillars.

How each result is derived

Spouse Palace (Day Branch)

The Day Branch, its hidden stems, and the Ten God of each hidden stem relative to the Day Master.

Read directly from the Day Pillar of the computed chart, with no further inference. Hidden stems and Ten Gods come from the engine hidden-stem table.

The Day Pillar is set by the birth date. It changes with birth time only for births near midnight, where a true-solar-time or local-time correction crosses into the next or previous day. When the time is unknown the date alone is used, so this item stays available.

Spouse Star

Where the Spouse Star appears among the stems and hidden stems of the four pillars: Direct and Indirect Wealth for a male chart, Direct Officer and Seven Killings for a female chart.

The tool first picks the group of Ten Gods from the gender recorded for the chart, then looks for them one by one in the four pillars, counting both visible stems and hidden stems but never the Day Master.

When birth time is unknown, any Spouse Star in the Hour Pillar stays hidden from the count, so the result speaks only for the other three pillars.

Peach Blossom

The Peach Blossom branch that belongs to the Three Harmony group of the Day Branch, and whether it appears among the Year, Month and Hour branches.

Only the Day Branch is used to look it up. Some schools check from the Year Branch as well; this page does not mix the two.

Without a birth time there is no Hour branch to check, so only the Year and Month branches are tested.

Clashes and combinations on the Spouse Palace

Six Harmony, Three Harmony, Three Meeting, Six Clash, Punishment and Six Harm between the Day Branch and the other branches.

Only relations that involve the Day Pillar are listed, not those among the other pillars. A half-combination is marked as such.

When birth time is unknown the Hour Pillar takes no part, so a relation with the Hour Branch may be missed.

Three sample charts, looking at the Spouse Palace and Spouse Star

The three fictional charts below put the Day Branch and the Spouse Star in different places, and one of them has no birth time entered, so you can see which items drop out because of that. None is a real user; they differ only in birth data.

Sample chart 1

Fictional example: Female, 1988-09-02 08:30

Spouse Palace (Day Branch)

  • The Spouse Palace is the Day Branch Monkey; its hidden stems are Yang Metal (Companion), Yang Water (Eating God), Yang Earth (Indirect Resource).

Spouse Star

  • Officer stars (Direct Officer, Seven Killings) are absent from every stem and hidden stem of the four pillars.

Peach Blossom

  • By the Three Harmony group of the Day Branch Monkey, the Peach Blossom branch is Rooster.
  • Rooster does not appear among the Year, Month or Hour branches.

Clashes and combinations on the Spouse Palace

  • The Day Branch forms no combination, clash, punishment or harm with the other branches.

Sample chart 2

Fictional example: Male, 1976-12-21 22:10

Spouse Star

  • Wealth stars (Direct Wealth, Indirect Wealth) appear in: Month Pillar stem: Yang Metal (Direct Wealth); Hour Pillar stem: Yin Metal (Indirect Wealth).

Peach Blossom

  • By the Three Harmony group of the Day Branch Goat, the Peach Blossom branch is Rat.
  • Rat appears in the chart at: Month Pillar Rat.

Clashes and combinations on the Spouse Palace

Birth time is unknown, so the Hour Pillar is not counted here.

Peach Blossom

  • By the Three Harmony group of the Day Branch Monkey, the Peach Blossom branch is Rooster.
  • Rooster does not appear among the Year and Month branches.

Birth time is unknown, so the Hour Pillar is not counted here.

Clashes and combinations on the Spouse Palace

  • The Day Branch forms no combination, clash, punishment or harm with the other branches.

Birth time is unknown, so the Hour Pillar is not counted here.

Common questions about relationship structure

The convention reads Wealth for men and Officer for women. Does it still apply to someone it does not fit?+

It is a traditional symbolic convention. This page applies it by the gender recorded for the chart to see where relationship energy sits in the four pillars. It is not used to judge a partner's gender or your orientation. If the convention does not fit you, rely on the Spouse Palace and the clashes and combinations instead.

My chart shows no Spouse Star. Does that mean no romantic fate?+

No. A missing Spouse Star only means that kind of Ten God is not among the stems and hidden stems right now; later Luck Pillars and annual pillars may bring it. Whether a relationship goes well depends on many real-life factors, and the chart is only one way of looking.

Does Peach Blossom mean popularity or a complicated love life?+

Here it is only a fact about a branch position: it comes from the Three Harmony group of the Day Branch and appears on a given pillar. Schools differ on whether to read it as charm, popularity or something else, and this page draws no conclusion.

Can I use this if I do not know my birth time?+

Partly. The Spouse Palace is the Day Branch and does not need birth time. The Spouse Star, Peach Blossom and relations will leave out the Hour Pillar, and the result says which items were affected. If you can narrow the time to a two-hour window, the result is more complete.
