How Zi Wei Dou Shu reads two charts together
BaZi compatibility asks how two elemental balances meet. Zi Wei Dou Shu asks something more spatial: your twelve palaces are a map of your life, and the question is what lands where when another chart is laid over it.
The main technique here is the flying transformations. The stem of your Life palace turns four specific stars into Hua Lu, Hua Quan, Hua Ke and Hua Ji; those stars sit somewhere on the other person's chart, and where they land says what you bring into their life. Then the same is done in reverse. Hua Lu landing on their Spouse palace is not the same statement as Hua Ji landing there, and both are checkable — you can see which star it was and which palace it fell in.
Around that we read the branches the two Life palaces sit on, whether the major stars belong to the same tempo group, and whether one chart's Spouse palace happens to hold the other's Life palace star. That last one is the closest thing this system has to "you were looking for exactly this".

- Does a low score mean we should break up?
- No. The score is a portrait, not a verdict. A low dimension names something the two of you have to practise — it is never advice about whether to stay together, and this page will never give that advice.
- What if one of us does not know their birth hour?
- You still get a reading, but it is marked as partial and the numbers pull toward the middle rather than toward a confident low. In Zi Wei the Life palace is fixed by lunar month and hour together, so without the hour the palace layout itself may not be yours.
- Why is this different from the BaZi compatibility result?
- Different evidence. BaZi reasons from Day Masters, hidden stems and elemental balance; this page reasons from palaces, stars and transformations. On the same two birth dates they often disagree, which is useful information rather than a bug — read both and see where they agree.
