Birth time near a boundary
If your recorded time is close to 23:00, 01:00, 03:00, or another two-hour branch boundary, even a small correction can change the Hour Pillar and downstream reading.

Longitude and local mean time
Clock time and local solar time can differ substantially when the birthplace is far from the timezone meridian. Local mean time helps correct that difference.

Solar terms, not lunar months
BaZi month pillars and Da Yun start timing follow solar terms. This is why the first luck cycle does not simply begin on a birthday or lunar new year.

A 10-year luck cycle, or Da Yun, is a decade-level timing pillar used to read the changing environment around a BaZi chart.
02Why does gender matter in the calculation?
Traditional Da Yun direction depends on gender and the yin-yang quality of the birth-year stem, so the same birth date can produce a different sequence.
03Is this the same as a paid luck report?

04Should I use local mean time?

07What do the yearly rhythm tags mean?
Each year is tagged Initiate change, Push steadily, Build quietly or Many shifts, steady first. The tag combines that year's overall score with whether the year's branch clashes with or punishes a branch in your chart or in the Luck Pillar running that year. It describes how likely change is to arrive, not which action to take, and the line under each year lists the exact stem, branch and relations behind it.
08Does "steady first" mean I should not change jobs or move?
No. It means change is more likely to show up or be pushed from outside, so it helps to settle the basics before a big decision. The tag is not a permission or a prohibition: any year is fine for preparing, learning or trying something small, and your real opportunities and circumstances come first. It does not predict illness, accidents, lifespan, marriage or money outcomes.
09Are the yearly tags calculated or written by AI?
They are calculated by a fixed rule from your computed chart, with no AI model involved in choosing a tag. Under the same rule version, the same chart and year always give the same tag, so nothing changes when you reopen the page.
